Seasonal Plant Care
Your plants' needs change dramatically across the seasons. Adjust watering, feeding, and light as the year turns.
Spring — Waking Up
- Resume regular fertilising
- Gradually increase watering
- Best time to repot, propagate, and prune
- Watch for pests becoming active
Summer — Peak Growth
- Water more frequently
- Fertilise every 2–4 weeks
- Shield sensitive plants from harsh afternoon sun
- Watch for heat stress and spider mites
Autumn — Slowing Down
- Reduce watering frequency
- Stop fertilising by late autumn
- Bring outdoor plants inside before first frost
- Clean leaves of summer dust
Winter — Rest & Recovery
- Water only when soil is clearly dry
- Stop fertilising entirely
- Maximise light — move plants to south/west windows
- Keep away from cold draughts and radiators
- Maintain humidity — central heating dries air
