Reading Leaf Problems

Yellow leaves, brown tips, drooping, spots — every symptom tells a story. Decode what your plant is communicating.

Yellowing Leaves

Lower leaves gradually: Normal aging.

Many at once: Overwatering, root rot, or sudden environmental change.

Yellow with brown crispy tips: Underwatering, low humidity, or overfertilising.

Yellow with green veins: Nutrient deficiency (iron or magnesium).

Brown Tips & Edges

Brown tips: Low humidity, salt buildup, overfertilising.

Brown edges: Underwatering, draughts, cold damage.

Brown patches mid-leaf: Sunscorch or cold water splash.

Drooping & Wilting

Soil is dry: Underwatering — water and the plant usually recovers in hours.

Soil is wet: Root rot — investigate roots immediately.

Spots & Marks

White powdery coating: Powdery mildew. Improve air circulation.

Silver streaks: Spider mites. Check leaf undersides for webbing.

Brown spots with yellow halo: Fungal leaf spot. Remove affected leaves.
